We've done a few of these 'carpet based' coffee tables. Inspired by the "Ram's Head" motif found in many oriental carpets. The bases are assembled, carved and painted and the glass is 3/4" thick with cut beveled corners. Works really well if you have a nice oriental you don't want to cover with a coffee table. Blown and sandblasted glass on top of the table by Jim Parsons.
